Meet the Member: Jade Ruscev, Startup Attorney

Member news | January 04, 2021

Meet Jade Ruscev, Attorney and Founder of Stamina Law. She is helping startups to grow exponentially; from their incorporation, to running their business, to raising funds, to their exit.

Being French and American as well as a Certified Attorney in both countries, she helps French and American startups and has experience in cross border transactions...

FACC: How did you plan the steps to get into the career you wanted ? Tell us about your career path.

I’ve always wanted to become an attorney. Since I grew up in the US and in France, I still have a deep attachment to both cultures. This is why I decided to become an attorney in the US and in France.

After high school I went to France to study at the Sorbonne. I’ve finished my studies at Cornell Law School and passed the New York and Paris bars.

I began my professional career in Luxembourg, at the international law firm NautaDutilh, where I advised US private equity funds.

After 2 years, I decided to go back to France and join BOLD Avocats in Paris, a law firm specialized in startups. There I acquired a solid knowledge of the startup ecosystem : mentoring at the famous incubator Station F, negotiating fundraisings and companies buyouts, implementing equity incentive plans, etc.

Inspired by all the entrepreneurs I’ve met, I recently created STAMINA LAW : the law firm specialized in startups, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on creation and growth.

FACC: What were the challenges you faced? How did you address them?

Making the decision to create STAMINA LAW in 2020 wasn’t easy. Starting a business is always a challenge and the current context with the global health crisis is not helping. More than ever, every choice counts and the margin of error has been considerably reduced in these difficult times.

But I believe that when you set your mind to something, with perseverance you can do anything.

This crisis strengthened my convictions and reinforced my belief that I made the right choice in setting up my own practice since startups need support more than ever. Some of them had to drastically change their business model in order to survive and I had to adapt as well to find the best solutions for them.

FACC: How does your work benefit society?

Startups are at the center of innovation and economic growth. By supporting entrepreneurs to create and grow their startup, STAMINA LAW is helping our society to find the solutions of tomorrow, create job opportunities and attract investors.

FACC: What convinced you that being a part of the FACC was a smart choice to help develop and grow your business ?

As a member of the New York and Paris bars, a recent New Yorker and founder of STAMINA LAW, I was looking to meet US and French entrepreneurs and new professionals practicing a complementary activity.

After joining the FACC, I was immediately impressed by the support of their team, the diversity of the profiles of their members and the organization of the events.

I was very happy with the connections that were referred to me and even started collaborating with them.

FACC: As a member, what do you hope to share with the community ?

I hope to share with the FACC community my expertise as an attorney in both the French and US startups ecosystems and as a founder of a new law practice.
