Presidential Proclamation- Suspension of the Exchange Visitor Program

On June 22, 2020, President Trump issued an addendum to Presidential Proclamation 10014, effectively suspending entry of various non-resident alien visa categories. The full provisions of the Proclamation can be consulted on the White House website. This announcement follows the initial suspension on April 22, 2020.

Quick facts:

•This proclamation took effect Wednesday June 24, 2020 and will be in effect until December 31, 2020, if not extended.

•The H-1B, H-2B, L and J visa categories are concerned (includes J-1 Interns and Trainees).

•This proclamation applies to new applicants and will not invalidate the current visas of current visa holders.

For over 45 years the FACC has been a trusted sponsor, accredited and mandated by the Department of State to oversee the application of international talent to the Exchange Visitor Program (J-1). As a sponsor, we remain committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of program participants, now and in the future. Our team will continue to provide program oversight and customer service to Exchange Visitors, Host Companies and members of the Chamber.

Pursuant to the proclamation, we are immediately suspending the processing of new, incoming Exchange Visitor requests (J-1) while the Proclamation is in effect.
