Towards a Circular Economy

 

During the week of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York City and Climate Week, the FACC Sustainability & Innovation Committee followed up on their May Forum event with an intimate panel discussion entitled "Towards a Circular Economy" in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). After welcoming remarks from the Committee Chair and host Skip Rankin, Partner at Baker McKenzie, a keynote address was given by Frédéric Glanois, Economic and Financial Counsellor, French Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

The panel discussion was moderated by Rhys Thom, Director of Circular Economy at IDEO. Panelists Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary General of the UNDP, Amy Hall, Vice President of Social Consciousness at Eileen Fisher, Ron Gonen, CEO of Closed Loop Partners and Merijn Dols, Sr Director of Open Innovation & Circular Economy for Food at Danone, touched upon the implications for the public and private sector, financing shortfalls, opportunities for innovation and collaboration among stakeholders.
