On March 25th, members of the French-American Chamber of Commerce and members of the Association des Amis des Grandes Écoles de France had the opportunity to gather for an exceptional breakfast panel discussion at the Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa in New York City's Plaza Hotel.
The panel of experts addressed a number of important wellness issues for today’s fast-paced executives including nutrition, stress management, and overall well-being. The event opened with welcome remarks by Anne de Louvigny Stone, President, AAGEF Board of Directors, and Martin Bischoff, Managing Director, FACC - NY. Ms. de Louvigny Stone introduced Ingrid Skjong, Deputy Editor, Gotham and Hamptons, who moderated the discussion.
Elisa Niemtzow, Owner, Taste Generation and Certified Health Counselor, shared many practical insights in regards to her “three-pillar philosophy of wellness” which are physical, spiritual, and emotional. Stating that “we are busier than ever”, Ms. Niemtzow emphasized the importance of eating well and advised attendees to choose natural foods that are also enjoyable, so that sustainable habits can be developed. She also stressed the importance of finding ways to take much-needed breaks each day, such as a short walk or meditation.
The importance of listening to one’s body, finding one’s own rhythm and “being one’s own CEO” was stressed by Nicolas Ronco, Owner, Yelo. He mentioned that it is futile to stress about stress and pointed out that a certain level of it is necessary to function and find motivation. Finally, he communicated the importance of making one’s bedroom a retreat, noting that distractions like TV and computers should be eliminated and replaced with soothing elements such as aromatherapy candles.
Panelists Nicolas Serres-Cousiné, Life Coach, and Joyce Davis, Spa Director, Caudalie Vinothérapie®, both communicated importance of finding time for oneself. Mr. Serres-Cousiné mentioned that it is essential to learn what it is you want because many people do not actually know. Ms. Davis said that although some consider time spent at the spa to be an unnecessary luxury, it is actually important to take the time for you for physical and mental rejuvenation.
The FACC thanks all panelists and the AAGEF for a dynamic, and timely, discussion.
