On Tuesday, May 19, sixty members and guests of the French-American Chamber of Commerce and the French-American Foundation gathered in the Magic Room of the LVMH Tower for a Discussion with Dr. Jacques Attali.
Dr. Attali, Founder and first President of the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development and President of PlaNet Finance, offered remarks on Integrating the Principles of Microfinance into Global Financial Reform. Discussing current trends in the global economy, Dr. Attali explored microfinance as an instrument useful for showcasing innovation and entrepreneurship – elements critical to economic growth.
Drawing a comparison with the 1929 financial crisis, Dr. Attali stated that the current situation represents the first crisis of a global market and a difficulty adjusting supply and demand.
A thought-provoking question-and-answer session was led by Eric Abrahamson, Professor of Management, Columbia University.
The FACC thanks its member LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton for generously sponsoring and hosting the event.
