DISCUSSION

Every business is searching for a win-win opportunity. The ideal scenario: attract an investor who aligns with your mission, vision, and values and who, in addition to infusing fresh capital into your company, is also prepared to accompany your strategic development.

Whether you are an entrepreneur or small business owner who is actively soliciting funding round or considering it as part of your long-term growth strategy, it’s important to map your course in today’s economic context.

Join us for the first Lunch & Learn of 2020 where we will discuss the following:

  • What are the types of investors on USA market? (Angels, VC, crowdfunding, loans or any other financial alternatives like 13 Ventures)
  • Angel Investors vs Venture Capitalists: What's the Difference?
  • How to reach out to Investors?
  • Perfect pitch deck?
  • What do investors look for in a business plan?
  • What do Investors want in a CEO?
  • What should a startup look for in an Investor?

From an investor's perspective:

  • The opportunity
    • How big is the problem
    • How is the problem being solved today and by whim (and how big are they)
    • How innovative is the solution the startup brings to the table and what are the barriers to entry (and moats) that it can generate
  • The business model
    • Unit Economics (Life Time Value (LTV) of a customer vs. Customer Acquisition Cost)
    • Path to profitability & Cash (Cash is King)
    • Scalability
  • The team
    • Is this the right team? IS the team resourceful? Is the leadership coachable? What are the values driving the culture? What is the purpose
  • The match
    • Can we add value to this company?
    • Are we aligned

From the startup perspective

  • Smart vs. Dumb cash
  • Smart means many things: Market Experience / Distribution channels / Financial / etc.
  • Expectations: The Unicorn vs. Zebra
  • The long-term commitment/mission
